Gowling WLG recognised for Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion at The Lawyer Awards 2019

Gowling WLG has gained recognition for its achievements in the field of Diversity and Inclusion by winning the 'Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion' category at The Lawyer Awards 2019.

Hosted by The Lawyer, the awards took place at The Grosvenor House Hotel in London last night where 30 different category winners were announced. The awards celebrate legal excellence across Europe in private practice, in-house and the Bar. Entries were rigorously assessed by a panel of more than 60 judges drawn from a cross-section of the legal sector.

The Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) award recognises the firm's 'Inclusion 2020' strategy, which is centred on the value that 'we all bring something different'. Here, Gowling WLG's focus is to build on existing D&I infrastructure by embedding and hardwiring inclusion into working policies, processes and practices. This is backed-up by a commitment to continuously strive to create an inclusive workplace that recognises and supports individuality.

Alongside this, the firm's role in the £1.46 billion acquisition of Network Rail's commercial real estate portfolio was 'Commended' in the 'Real Estate Team of the Year' category. The project is believed to be one of the largest-ever UK real estate deals and involved partnering with Kirkland & Ellis to advise Blackstone Property Partners and Telereal Trillium on the acquisition.

This latest award is one of a number of recent successes for Gowling WLG: including being named Legal Adviser of the Year at the Partnership Awards 2019; winning 'Best HR Innovation Through Tech' at the 2019 HR in Law Awards and being commended in 'Learning and Development'; and another strong performance in the Great Place to Work ranking.
