Managing Intellectual Property names Gowling WLG the Canadian "Patent Contentious Firm of the Year"

Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) has named Gowling WLG the Canadian "Patent Contentious Firm of the Year" at the MIP Americas Awards 2022.

Last night, Ottawa partner Christopher Van Barr, who was nominated for Canadian "Patent Practitioner of the Year," attended the ceremony in New York City to accept the award on behalf of the firm.

MIP also awarded Gowling WLG's Intellectual Property Group with the Canadian "Impact Case of the Year" accolade for its role in Apotex v. Shire (Federal Court of Appeal).

Gowling WLG was shortlisted as Canadian "Firm of the Year" in an additional five categories, including Copyright, Patent Prosecution, Trademark Contentious, Trademark Prosecution and IP Transactions. Ottawa partner Lynne Watt was nominated for Canadian "Copyright Practitioner of the Year" and Toronto partner and co-head of the global IP Group Shelagh Carnegie was nominated for Canadian "Trademark Practitioner of the Year."
