David Cohen appointed chairman of Turnaround Management Association

Gowling WLG partner and leading restructuring and insolvency lawyer David F.W. Cohen has been appointed Chairman of the global Turnaround Management Association (TMA), the world’s largest organization dedicated to turnaround management, corporate restructuring and distressed investing. Cohen’s appointment went into effect on Jan. 1, 2017, and follows a one-year term as TMA’s President in 2016.

Cohen has been a member of TMA for more than 19 years, and in that time has served in a number of leadership positions. In addition to his most recent roles, he was previously vice-president of membership, secretary on the executive board, and a member of TMA’s board of trustees and international board of directors. He also chaired TMA’s 2015 Futures Taskforce, co-chaired its 2014 annual conference in Toronto, and served as a director of its Toronto chapter board for six years. In 2018, he will be TMA's immediate past Chairman and will chair its leadership nominating committee.

TMA has 54 chapters around the world, including 32 in North America. Its more than 8,500 members comprise turnaround practitioners, chief restructuring officers, lawyers, accountants, financial advisers, liquidators, executive recruiters and consultants, as well as academic, government and judicial employees.
