Gowling WLG is pleased to announce that leading corporate finance and securities lawyer Ian Mitchell has joined the firm as a partner in Toronto.
Working with publicly traded and private companies alike, Mitchell advises on all aspects of securities law, including public offerings and private placements of equity and debt securities, take-over and issuer bids, proxy battles and shareholder disputes, M&A, stock exchange listings and other securities regulatory matters.
Mitchell holds a certificate in mining law from Osgoode Hall, and over the course of his career has accrued extensive experience advising mining companies at all stages of development — both in Canada and around the world. His practice also encompasses work in the alternative energy, professional services, tech and health care fields, with clients that include issuers, dealers and advisers, underwriters, targets, special committees, and independent directors.
“With comprehensive experience in corporate finance and in-depth knowledge of his clients’ industries, Ian has a proven ability to help companies complete the complex transactions essential to their growth and success. We’re delighted to welcome him to the firm,” said Peter Lukasiewicz, CEO of Gowling WLG Canada.
Mitchell was named a Corporate Lawyer to Watch in the 2016 Lexpert Guide to the Leading US/Canada Cross-Border Corporate Lawyers in Canada. He was also recognized as one of Canada’s Lexpert Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40 in 2015.
