Gowling WLG's energy team has acted for AtmosClear Investments (ACI) on its acquisition of a residential solar photovoltaic (SPV) rooftop portfolio from Northleaf Capital.
The rooftop portfolio comprises of 2,940 assets and is located throughout the UK, helping to bolster ACI's existing and growing presence in the market.
ACI invests in businesses and projects that address international environmental challenges and help accelerate the clean-tech revolution through disruptive technologies, entrepreneurship and impact investing.
Senior associate Chelsie Taylor and co-head of Gowling WLG's energy sector, Gareth Baker, led the deal working with other energy team members including Helen Emmerson and Anna Colley (Real Estate), James Stanier and Gus Wood (Commercial & Regulatory), Tom Rank (Tax) and Hannah Daeche, Daniel Wood and Mike O'Shea (Construction).
Gareth Baker, partner at Gowling WLG said: "The UK rooftop solar market has often been overlooked as the large solar deals grab the headlines. However, ACI saw the opportunity early on and the portfolio returns and their business model has been impressive."
Sally Pinkerton, ACI relationship partner, said "This is our second transaction working with ACI after advising on the acquisition of two operating ground-mount solar farms. It is great to support their growth and we look forward to working together again."
Gowling WLG's multi-disciplinary energy team has a first-class reputation and operates seamlessly around the globe. The deal is another example of the team's position in the energy sector and follows the welcoming of Nath Curtis as partner; as well as several significant mandates including advising Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust on its IPO, and advising Statkraft on its PPA with Seagreen Wind Energy.
