Gowling WLG is delighted to welcome Wei Kiat Sun to its Commercial Litigation Group as a partner in Vancouver.
Pairing formidable advocacy skills with a keen commercial sensibility, Wei Kiat focuses his practice on multiple areas of commercial litigation, business risk management and insurance defence. He regularly represents clients before all levels of court in British Columbia.
“From risk-mapping to courtroom strategy, Wei Kiat applies a full-lifecycle approach to the complex challenges – both current and ongoing – that his clients face,” said Brent Kerr, managing partner of Gowling WLG’s Vancouver office. “As we continue to grow and strengthen our litigation practice on the west coast, we have no doubt that he will be an outstanding addition to our team and a vigorous champion for our clients’ interests.”
Over the course of his career, Wei Kiat has represented clients across an array of industry sectors – including manufacturing, technology, food and beverage, and agricultural. In recent years, his practice has developed a particular focus on the construction and transportation industries, where he routinely advises on a range of issues with respect to claims and risks.
Outside of his practice, Wei Kiat remains active in British Columbia’s legal community. He served as chairperson of the Canadian Bar Association’s Insurance Law Section (B.C.) and advised the Civil Resolution Tribunal on construction dispute resolution.
