"An essential tool in our litigation arsenal": Gowling WLG announces partnership with CiteRight

04 February 2021

Gowling WLG is pleased to announce its partnership with CiteRight, a Toronto-based legal technology startup, in a move that gives its litigation teams access to the most advanced legal knowledge and workflow platform in Canada.

CiteRight allows litigation teams to transform their legal research into reusable libraries that users can view and cite directly inside Microsoft Word. CiteRight can then automatically generate court submissions that comply with electronic submission requirements.

Spearheading the initiative to bring CiteRight to Gowling WLG is Ginevra Saylor, director, innovation and knowledge programs, and Brent J. Arnold, a Toronto-based partner and head of the firm's Commercial Litigation Technology Sub-Group.

"CiteRight is a truly groundbreaking tool, one that will strengthen the ability of our litigators and paraprofessionals to share legal knowledge, research, and resources with one another, while continuing to provide efficient client services of the highest quality," said Saylor.

A critical part of CiteRight's appeal is its ability to support teams of litigation professionals who need to collaborate, even as they work remotely.

"CiteRight promises to be an essential tool in our litigation arsenal," said Arnold. "With courts moving rapidly to digital submission requirements, our teams need to be able to produce consistently excellent work, while working efficiently and collaboratively. CiteRight is the obvious choice for us."

Since its founding in 2017, CiteRight has become Canada's market leader in legal research and knowledge-sharing tools by giving litigation teams — including litigators, articling students and practice support staff — simplified, functional access to the documents they need to get their jobs done. This combination of functionality and practicality is one of the reasons why Canada's largest law firms are making CiteRight a critical part of their work-from-home scenarios.

"It's an honour to be working with Gowling WLG," said Aaron Wenner, founder and CEO of CiteRight. "We're thrilled to partner with such a well-respected firm, and to see CiteRight become part of their knowledge and collaboration strategy. Our product helps lawyers focus their efforts on areas where they truly excel, and so we are looking forward to helping Gowling WLG produce the highest quality results for their clients."
