International law firm Gowling WLG has strengthened its Financial Institutions and Services sector team with the appointment of Madhu Jain as a partner in London.

Madhu is an experienced corporate partner advising clients in the insurance and reinsurance sector. She has extensive experience advising UK and international insurers, reinsurers and intermediaries on all kinds of corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and reinsurance.

Madhu's de-risking expertise also bolsters Gowling WLG's market leading pensions risk transfer (PRT) practice.

Madhu joins the firm from Pinsent Masons in London, where she was a partner and also a co-chair of one of Pinsents' diversity networks. Prior to this she was at Linklaters.

Madhu said: "I'm thrilled to have joined the firm to continue the growth of the Financial Institutions and Services sector team. Gowling WLG has an exceptionally strong pensions risk transfer practice and there is strong synergy with my experience of advising trustees, insurers and reinsurers. The firm has an exciting vision to grow and I'm looking forward to working with our sector teams and wider practices as part of our full-service offering to clients."

Stuart Young, Head of Corporate, Finance and Tax at Gowling WLG, said: "Madhu is an exceptional corporate lawyer who strengthens our firm across multiple practices and sectors and we're delighted to welcome her to the firm."

Commenting on Madhu's appointment, Paul Feathers, Head of Pensions Risk Transfer at Gowling WLG, added: "Madhu is an industry leader in the de-risking space and adds further strength to our leading PRT practice. She has a fantastic reputation in the market and will be a huge asset for the firm and our clients."

Madhu's arrival follows the recent strategic appointments of structured finance partner Naina Patel and private funds partner Katherine Rainwood into Gowling WLG's Financial Services and Institutions sector team.
