Almut MacDonald

Almut MacDonald is an articling student in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office.

Almut graduated from the JD program at the University of Ottawa, where she completed the option in international law.

During law school, Almut worked as a peer mentor for the Legal Writing Academy at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law. She also pursued her interest in litigation and participated in competitive moots. Her team placed second at the 2019 Oxford International Intellectual Property Moot. In 2020, her team advanced to the semi-finals at the Harold G. Fox Intellectual Property Moot.

Almut was selected for the First-Year Technoship, a research bursary by the Centre for Law, Technology and Society. During her time as a research assistant, Almut contributed to research initiatives in the areas of international trade and innovation.

Prior to law school, Almut graduated from the École Supérieure De Commerce de Paris (ESCP Europe), with a master’s degree in European business. She also completed an undergraduate and graduate degree in psychology at Freie Universität Berlin, Germany.

Almut is bilingual in English and German.
