
Bio
Anastasia Castro is a summer student at Gowling WLG’s Toronto office.
She completed a bachelor of arts at McGill University, where she obtained a First-Class Joint Honours degree in political science and environmental studies in three years. She is currently in her second year of law school at the University of Toronto and will graduate in 2026.
Anastasia has been engaged in environmental advocacy for over a decade with various organizations such as the Surfrider Foundation, Fin Free and Climate Science Canada, before founding her own organization in 2018.
Anastasia continued to focus on environmental issues in law school. She is the president of the Environmental Law Club and worked as research assistant for Dean Brunnée in the field of international environmental law. Anastasia is currently a clinical intern at the University of Toronto’s International Human Rights Clinic, where she works for an Indigenous Amazonian community whose lands are threatened by mining.
Anastasia will focus her summer in the firm’s Environmental Group.
