Andre Matheusik

Andre Matheusik is a summer law student in the Calgary office of Gowling WLG, and is an incoming second-year Juris Doctor student at the University of Calgary Faculty of Law. Andre hopes to utilize his educational background in environmental science and business in the natural resources law, energy law and environmental law (NREEL) practice areas.

During his first year of studies, he volunteered with the Environmental Law Society, through which he represented the 1L class and organized events with faculty professors and lawyers working in NREEL.

Andre previously completed a Bachelor of Commerce at McGill University with a major in Managing for Sustainability and a minor in Geography. During his undergraduate degree, he volunteered with the Desautel Faculty of Management Sustainability Network. He also served as president of the largest club at McGill University -- the McGill Ski and Snowboard Club.

Andre studied internationally as part of his studies, spending a semester at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. In his final year of undergraduate studies, he participated in a geography field study at the Bellairs Research Institute in Barbados. Following graduation, he travelled extensively, primarily in Indonesia and Europe. He also worked in the alcohol beverage industry as a sales representative for two major Canadian companies.

He hopes to hone his critical reading and thinking skills and further develop his natural attentiveness to customer service by assisting clients in business and law.
