Bruno Desparts

Bruno Desparts is an Ottawa-based Gowling WLG associate lawyer. He specializes in the area of medical defence, with a focus on professional liability, medical malpractice and disciplinary matters. Bruno both summered and articled at Gowling WLG.

During his legal studies, Bruno represented the University of Ottawa in the Charles-Rousseau Moot Competition in International Public Law in Romania. He also conducted field research in South Africa dealing with the correlation between AIDS orphans and racial inequalities in the country.

Bruno worked as an accounting officer at the House of Commons where he managed office budgets for Members of Parliament. He was also a research assistant at the University of Ottawa, where he co-organized a panel during the Second World Conference on humanitarian studies in Boston. Additionally, Bruno collaborated on an article on humanitarian diplomacy entitled “The Emerging Concept of Humanitarian Diplomacy: identification of a community of practice and prospects for international recognition,” published by the International Review of the Red Cross.

Bruno is fluent in both French and English and practises in both languages. He volunteers for the Ontario Bar Association during the mock trial program in elementary schools in Ottawa.
