Chantel Costa

Chantel Costa is a summer student in Gowling WLG’s Toronto office. She is completing her JD at Western University.

While attending Western law, Chantel holds the executive position of VP external for Western Law’s Innovation Association. She is also a host for the Law School Show podcast, contributing episodes on tech. Chantel is a research assistant for Professor Bassem Awad, exploring the intellectual property rights of artificial intelligence. She will continue her research this summer and in the upcoming school year.

Chantel is the charity partnerships coordinator for Monday Girl, a career platform for professional women. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she co-founded an emergency relief food service that supported Toronto’s low-income seniors and other low-income demographics through collaborative partnerships with non-profits.

Prior to attending law school, Chantel completed her MA at Western University. She also worked at various tech startups in the blockchain industry, including Secure Digital Markets and the Decentralized Artificial Intelligence Alliance.

Chantel will focus her summer in the firm's Business Law department.
