Chris Peng

Chris Peng is an associate in the Intellectual Property Group of Gowling WLG’s Calgary office and a registered Canadian patent agent. 

Chris' practice involves patent drafting and prosecution in relation to a wide range of subject matter, including electrical, software, and mechanical engineering. He also advises on intellectual property matters in the context of commercialization and transactions.

Chris has a degree in computer engineering and worked at several multinational organizations, including as a communications systems designer at a consulting services firm, a software engineer at a telecommunications and consumer electronics company, a hardware designer at a telecommunications and networking equipment manufacturer, and an applications engineer at a semiconductor company.

Prior to intellectual property, Chris practiced as a corporate securities lawyer for a number of years. During this time, he worked at two national law firms and at the Alberta Securities Commission, including as a member of a national initiative directed towards fintech and cryptocurrencies.
