Christina Ruest

Christina Ruest is a law clerk in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office working in the advocacy department.

Since joining the firm in 2016, Christina has specialized in the area of Indigenous law and is the law clerk in a national class-action regarding the attendance of Indigenous children at Indian day schools across Canada. Christina is the primary point of contact and is responsible for liaising with all registered class members. She maintains an updated database of class members’ information, record of pleadings and precedents.

Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Christina specialized in the Independent Assessment Process for six years, which was an out-of-court process to resolve claims of abuse suffered by Indigenous children at Indian residential schools.

In addition, Christina specialized in the collection of outstanding Canada and provincial student loans for the government for seven years. She has extensive knowledge and understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedures, Small Claims Court Rules and various court processes and practices.
