Dan Misutka

Dan Misutka is a partner in Gowling WLG's Calgary office, practising in the Advocacy Group, with a focus on tax dispute resolution and administrative law matters.

Dan has extensive litigation experience in a wide range of practice areas. He began his career as a federal prosecutor and transitioned into a role as tax litigation counsel for the Minister of National Revenue. Since 2004, he has been in private practice, advocating for clients in virtually all areas of tax disputes.

Having litigated numerous court proceedings, Dan has appeared before all levels of courts in Alberta, the Federal Court and the Tax Court of Canada.

Dan acts on behalf of individuals and businesses to achieve meaningful resolution of tax disputes at the earliest possible opportunity for his clients. In addition to his administrative law practice, he also brings a well-developed skillset to the firm's regulatory practice, particularly regarding energy and natural resource development.

Dan also presents regularly on tax dispute resolution topics and has taught professional development courses for the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (now CPA Canada).
