Dane Patton is an associate in the Calgary office of Gowling WLG. He focuses his practice on construction and aviation matters.
Dane’s broad construction practice emphasizes negotiating and drafting construction contracts and resolving project disputes. He has successfully represented clients before the Provincial Court of Alberta and the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench.
Dane has a significant interest in aviation and is an enthusiastic private pilot. He is routinely engaged in complex secured and asset-backed financings of private and commercial aircraft. Dane’s aviation practice also includes aircraft and airport leases and transactions, aviation regulatory issues, and aviation incident and claims work.
Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Dane spent eight years working in project management and business development for a large multinational construction firm. In this position, Dane managed projects throughout Western Canada, the Maritimes, and the American Gulf Coast.
Dane holds a JD and MBA from the University of Alberta. During his legal studies, he volunteered with Student Legal Services, sat on the University Appeal Board, and interned with the Canadian Armed Forces Judge Advocate General at 3rd Canadian Division Support Base Edmonton.
Dane serves on the Board of Directors of the Calgary Flying Club and volunteers with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets.
