Denis G. Silva

Denis Silva is a Vancouver-based Gowling WLG lawyer who considers it a top priority to provide additional value for his clients beyond traditional legal advice and services. One of the ways in which Denis does so is by leveraging his network to facilitate introductions, originate deals and generate revenue for his clients and referral sources.

Denis advises companies and dealers in a variety of capital markets transactions with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, options and joint ventures, proxy contests, and exchange listings. He is experienced in a broad spectrum of securities products, including equity and debt securities, and has worked on numerous financing transactions. One of his recent successes includes being a key member of the legal team that advised an earth observation company on its acquisition of a public target company, concurrent financing and listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Denis has particular experience working with mining and technology companies listed on both the Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange. He also advises on general corporate matters and compliance with securities law and stock exchange requirements.

Denis uses his legal expertise to provide pragmatic and resourceful advice to his clients, and credits his success to a commitment to prompt and personable service. Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Denis was senior legal counsel to the British Columbia Securities Commission and a lawyer at another international law firm. While at the BCSC, he furthered his legislative and policy expertise on corporate finance and registration matters. Denis' interests and talents extend beyond Gowling WLG. He is a lecturer on securities law topics at the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia.
