Fatima Israel is Gowling WLG Canada’s Chief Growth and Marketing Officer and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Guided by a deeply rooted “business-to-human” ethos, Fatima leads Gowling WLG’s marketing and business development functions with a focus on driving measurable growth, strengthening the brand, and capturing the hearts and minds of the firm’s people and clients.
In pursuit of these goals, Fatima collaborates across the global business and its markets to identify strategic growth and go-to-market opportunities, drive digital acceleration, and elevate the firm’s business development culture. Her approach to these and other activities fearlessly combines bold vision, measurable business outcomes, and a passion for creativity, innovation and making the impossible, possible.
Recognized as one of The Globe and Mail's 50 Best Executives in Canada in 2022, Fatima brings 20 years of experience delivering high-impact and purpose-driven growth marketing initiatives across a range of sectors – including professional services, energy, telecommunications, technology, health services, and financial services.
Prior to joining Gowling WLG, she served as Chief Marketing Officer at EY Canada and was a member of the Canadian Leadership Team, where she led a large national team in helping the firm reimagine its go-to-market strategy, enhance its client experiences and increase its market-influenced revenue. During this period, she led her team to execute best in class B2B campaigns, including winning Gold from the Canadian Marketing Association Awards in 2021.
Beyond her role, Fatima devotes significant time to supporting the next generation of marketing and business development professionals. She currently serves as an advisory council member for the American Marketing Association and is frequently engaged as a judge for marketing industry award programs.
Fatima holds an MBA from York University’s Schulich School of Business, where she was recognized with an Alumni Outstanding Achievement award in 2024, as well as a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto.
