Gemma is a commercial development and investment specialist, working predominantly with those who invest in real estate on a large scale, including developers and pension funds. Advising on the purchase, funding, letting, ongoing management and eventual sale of all manner of property (from industrial to retail), she knows the importance of a responsive attitude and a commercial outlook when working in the fast-paced commercial real estate market.
Gemma's previous experience working in our dedicated specialist transactions team, advising on the real estate aspects of complex corporate mergers and acquisitions, means that she also brings her investor clients the benefit of a wider perspective on the corporate aspects of her transactions.
Gemma's role is very focused on working with clients to achieve their business goals (and often working with the other side, rather than against them, as ultimately everyone involved wants a real estate transaction to succeed), which she really enjoys. Our investor clients are extremely commercial and sophisticated in what they do, meaning that we can really work alongside them in partnership.
Her background in the specialist transactions team means she has the benefit of a wider perspective on real estate, and has an insight into the corporate side of a transaction that can be very useful. Being able to input more readily and give a steer on wider commercial issues is something clients really value.
Advising on the sale of four holiday parks for a leading British-based resort operator. The transaction changed from being a sale, to a refinance, and then back to a sale all within a very short timescale. Holiday parks are also a unique asset type to work with, with plenty of aspects that you don't encounter anywhere else and that adds their own complexities to a deal. It was high-pressure, but we got our client over the line in the timescales that they needed, which was a great result.

Advising a unit trust client on the disposal of two shopping centres incorporating 60 retail units at each centre, with a combined value of approx. £80 million.
Helping a sector-leading multinational asset management company with the acquisition of a large industrial estate for approximately £3 million, including advising on complex lease structures.
Assisting a global industrial developer with certificates of title for a strategic refinancing deal, working with challenging timescales to help her client meet their objectives.
