Habib is an energy sector specialist, providing commercial advice on a variety of energy market schemes, obligations and incentives and helping a full range of clients in the sector to negotiate and put in place robust agreements that allow them to take full advantage of opportunities in this cutting-edge market.

Habib has strong experience of advising on energy regulation following his secondment with the world's largest investor-owned power and gas company and is able to provide clear and succinct advice on the legislative frameworks that underpin all competitive energy markets.

Habib is immersed in our work with a full range of commercial clients from all sides of the energy sector, including both generators and suppliers. He understands that being able to gauge the commercial driver behind any contractual need is crucial in an energy lawyer, while also dealing with the tight timescales that are inevitably involved with energy transactions.


  • Providing general regulatory advice to a wide range of clients on various electricity market schemes, obligations and incentives.
  • Advising managers of industry codes, including those that manage the DCUSA and SPAA.
  • Advising a major UK energy company on a proposed tender for a substantial demand side response services project.
  • Advising the world's largest investor-owned power and gas company on a broad range of contracts, including framework agreements, standard contract terms and balancing service agreements.
  • Drafting and negotiating various heat interface unit agreements as part of various community energy projects.
  • Drafting and negotiating energy sector contracts and reviewing and updating industry standard terms and conditions, both in the domestic and industrial and commercial markets.
