Helen Arthur

Helen Arthur is a London based senior associate who specialises in helping clients to avoid disputes focusing on finding solutions in a pragmatic and commercial way.

Helen acts on behalf of employers, consultants, contractors and sub-contractors, public bodies and tenants on a wide variety of contentious issues, with experience of adjudication, mediation and litigation in a number of different contexts. A substantial period on secondment with a world leading infrastructure provider, assisting them to resolve a long-running multi-party PFI dispute, means that Helen has a consummate understanding of the affect such issues can have at an on-the-ground level.

Experience

  • Spending a substantial period on secondment, assisting the client to resolve a multi-party and multi-million pound PFI dispute. Helen supported the contracts manager on site, the in-house legal team, as well as the claims team, giving her expert knowledge of acting as a first point of contact for legal queries and as a sounding board for issues from both a commercial and risk management perspective.
  • Advising a house builder in regards to the JCT Contract for a high-profile housing development in the South West of England, where claims have been made following multiple defects in the housing stock being identified.
  • Helen has acted for Volkswagen UK Limited in linked disputes arising out of then the largest Audi retail building in the world in West London.
  • Helen has acted for the developers and/or owners in large defects disputes arising out of defective design of foundations including acting for the successful party in Commercial Management (Investments) Ltd v Mitchell Design and Construct Ltd & Anor [2016] EWHC 76 (TCC)
  • Helen is currently acting for the developer in relation to an entertainment-led mixed use commercial and housing development in South London.
