Houtan Mashinchi

Houtan Mashinchi is an associate lawyer in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office, practising in the Corporate Commercial Group.

Houtan completed his JD program at the University of Windsor. During his time in law school, Houtan was involved in the Windsor Law High School Outreach program as a classroom facilitator and student director, and is currently a mentor to both an undergraduate and first year law student through the university's mentorship program. Houtan also served on the Windsor-Essex Ontario Justice Education Network Committee, which organized mock trials and seminars at local high schools. 

Houtan previously graduated from Simon Fraser University with a bachelor of arts (honours) degree in criminology. He completed his honours thesis on stress and policing by examining stress management strategies within municipal police and the RCMP in Greater Vancouver. 

Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Houtan spent a summer with Access Pro Bono in Vancouver, where he represented clients contesting their involuntary detainment under the B.C. Mental Health Act at their review panel hearings. He also worked at a major national bank as a customer service representative.

Houtan is fluent in English, Azari and Farsi.
