Jennifer Al-Salim

Jennifer is a principal associate in the Commercial Litigation team in Dubai. She was located in the firm's London office from 2008 until 2016 when she re-located to the Dubai office. 

Jennifer's practice covers all forms of corporate and commercial dispute resolution and she has particular expertise in advising on cross-border matters.

She advises on high value fraud and asset tracing claims, contentious insolvency matters and contentious trust cases.  She has extensive experience acting for governments, court appointed liquidators and corporates who are seeking to locate misappropriated assets and to take steps to recover those assets. 

She advises clients on proceedings issued in the High Court of Justice in London, in the DIFC Courts and in many of the offshore jurisdictions, including Jersey, Guernsey, BVI and Nevis.

Experience

Acting for the Federal Republic of Brazil and the Municipality of Sao Paulo in relation to the successful recovery of assets stemming from a fraud perpetrated by the former mayor of Sao Paulo, Paulo Maluf, which culminated in successfully defending an appeal to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.

Acting for professional trustees in the largest recovery action brought by the joint liquidators of the Madoff estate and the Kingate Funds, which involved proceedings in the US, Bermuda, BVI and England.

Acting for Court appointed liquidators of a Brazilian Bank and a Brazilian department store in respect of tracing and recovering valuable artwork and other assets.

Acting for a beneficiary based in the Middle East in respect of successfully defending her removal as a beneficiary of a trust and issuing a claim against the trustees in Guernsey.

Advising a beneficiary based in the Middle East in respect of potential claims arising from the settlement of various trusts, including addressing issues of incapacity and undue influence.

Advising professional trustees in respect of breach of trust claims and negotiating the terms of the indemnity to be provided to the outgoing trustee.

Advising a corporate client based in Dubai in respect of a breach of contract claim and negotiating a settlement agreement.

Advising an English company in respect of its distribution agreements and strategy in relation to the distribution of its products across the Middle East and advising on the applicable UAE law provisions.
