Jennifer Koschinsky is a partner in Gowling WLG's Calgary office, practising primarily in the Employment, Labour & Equalities Group. She also maintains a small, yet diverse, practice focused on debt recovery and commercial litigation.
In Jennifer’s employment practice, she advises employers on human resources, labour relations and human rights issues. This includes all aspects of the employment relationship, from pre-employment hiring issues to performance management, dismissals and lay-offs. Jennifer is also an experienced investigator and conducts workplace investigations for any workplace issues including allegations of workplace harassment and bullying.
Jennifer routinely advises employers on complex human rights compliance matters, including discrimination and harassment issues. She has appeared before the labour boards in both Alberta and Saskatchewan, and has conducted grievance arbitrations in both provinces.
Recently, Jennifer has facilitated discussions with employers regarding the impact of the legalization of marijuana, providing guidance regarding the duty to accommodate and potential amendments required for employment policies.
In Jennifer’s debt recovery practice, she has acted for financial institutions and creditors (secured and unsecured) to advise on all aspects of the recovery process. This includes pre-litigation to post-judgment enforcement. She also has experience with complex recovery matters, including applications for injunctive relief, such as replevin, Anton Piller, Mareva injunctions, and attachment orders.
Jennifer's litigation experience includes contract claims, construction claims, joint venture disputes, and shareholder disputes. She has appeared before all levels of the Alberta and Saskatchewan Courts, the Federal Court Trial Division, and the Federal Court of Appeal.
