Jillian Klassen

Jillian Klassen is a summer law student in Gowling WLG’s Calgary office. She is pursuing her JD at the University of Manitoba and is expected to graduate in 2022.

On completion of her first year of law school, Jillian was placed on the Dean’s Honour List and was awarded the Pitbaldo Scholarship for her achievement. She was also the recipient of the R.R. Goodwin Q.C. prize in law for the highest standing in property law.

Currently, Jillian serves as vice-president of the Feminist Legal Forum, a student group within the Faculty of Law. This past schoolyear, she also served as a member of the Manitoba Law Students Association through her work with the Community Outreach Committee.

Jillian is passionate about client advocacy and working collaboratively to resolve legal issues. She is specifically interested in the areas of litigation and employment law. She has been able to develop her advocacy skills as a participant in the Laskin Moot, as well through her work as a summer student at a litigation firm in Red Deer last summer.

Prior to law school, Jillian completed a BA in Psychology (with distinction) at the University of Calgary. After graduating with her BA, she spent six years working in the not-for-profit sector with Boys and Girls Club of Red Deer and District. During her time with the organization, she worked closely with many children and families in Red Deer and the Central Alberta area.
