Jonathan Konietz is a Rechtsanwalt (German qualified attorney-at-law) and senior associate based in our Munich office.
He has broad experience in IP litigation and enforcement, including patent and utility model disputes in various technical fields, such as telecommunications, mechanics and electrical, and medical engineering. Through his work on numerous high-profile SEP/FRAND cases, he has developed in-depth expertise in patent-related antitrust law. He also regularly advises and assists in negotiating and drafting complex IP licenses in these technical fields, as well as various other types of IP-related agreements.
For Jonathan, legal advice means to understand the client's business needs and to provide an efficient, permanent and economically feasible solution. When asked about Jonathan's approach to advising his clients, one client noted that he "immediately got to the heart of the matter, nailed our requirements as a company and delivered just what we needed".
Jonathan is always mindful that litigation is not the answer to any dispute but, when necessary, he will assert and defend the rights of his clients rigorously and with full commitment. A highly respected competitor describes him as "hard-working, proactive, reliable and a pleasure to work with, but no pleasure to work against".
Before joining Gowling WLG, Jonathan worked in the patent litigation team of a leading German IP-Boutique.
