Justin A. J. Thuss, PhD

Dr. Justin Thuss is a patent agent in training in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office, working in the Intellectual Property (IP) Group. Justin provides patent prosecution and patent drafting services in a multitude of disciplines, including organic chemistry, biochemistry, biology, pharmaceutical, clean technology and oil and gas. He is a member of Gowling WLG's Life Sciences Industry Group.

During his scientific career, Justin co-authored numerous publications in high-impact scientific journals, including the Nature journal series and the Journal of the American Chemical Society. Justin’s doctoral research at the University of Alberta focused on the production of pharmaceutically important natural products by polyketide synthase (PKS) enzymes. Prior to his graduate studies, Justin completed his honours BSc in biochemistry at McMaster University.

Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Justin worked at a Canadian firm that focused exclusively on IP.
