Justin Kim

Justin Kim is a summer student in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office. He recently completed his first year at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law.

Before law school, Justin completed an MSc in global health science and epidemiology at Oxford University and a bachelor of medical sciences at the University of Western Ontario.

Previously, he worked as a summer research student at Women’s College Research Institute and as a biostatistician at the Wolfson Centre for the Prevention of Stroke and Dementia. His area of research during his academic studies focused on dementia care, with the hopes of improving access to care for Canada’s aging population.

Justin is the recipient of the Ontario Medical Association Entrance Scholarship, which was awarded to an incoming University of Toronto law student with an academic background and substantial work experience in the health care field. He also spent a summer volunteering on an overseas archeological excavation of a Roman fort. This unique experience inspired him to complete an additional major in classical studies.

During his first year in law school, Justin was elected as the first-year representative of the Students’ Law Society, the captain of the faculty’s co-ed intramural soccer team and a cast member in Law Follies (the school’s theatrical performance).

Justin is interested in pursuing a legal career at the intersection of innovation and health technology.
