Karen Watters

Karen Watters is an associate in Gowling WLG's Hamilton office.

Karen's practice focuses on matters relating to estates, wills, and trusts.

Her practice has included applications involving will challenges and defences, powers of attorney disputes, consent and capacity issues, guardianship applications, removal of estate trustees and powers of attorneys, dependant support claims and passings of accounts, both contested and uncontested.

Karen has successfully argued on behalf of clients at hearings before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice as well as appeals before the Divisional Court and Court of Appeal for Ontario.

As a litigator, Karen has seen the errors that can be made in estate planning and administration. While continuing to represent clients in contested proceedings, Karen now also practises in the area of estate planning and administration where she uses her litigation experience to better serve her clients in achieving their estate planning goals.

Karen received her JD from Queen's University in 2010 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2011. She holds a BA (Hons.) in political science and law after graduating with highest honours from Carleton University.
