Kelly Fitzpatrick is an associate in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office. She practises insurance litigation in the firm's insurance defence group.
Kelly's practice focuses primarily on personal injury (motor vehicle and occupier's liability), property, first party actions and accident benefits. She has experience in all aspects of litigation, including arguing contested motions, attending mediations and pre-trials, consulting and retaining experts, preparing matters for trial and conducting Superior Court trials.
In her 10 years of practice, Kelly has successfully acted for both insurers and their insureds.
Most notably, Kelly was co-counsel in the Jury Trial of Lazare v. Harvey, which is now referred to as one of the leading cases on claims for future income. The trial result was upheld at the Court of Appeal and leave to appeal was denied at the Supreme Court of Canada.
Kelly has also made numerous presentations to clients and in the legal community, and has written several legal articles on a variety of topics.
