Konrad A. Sechley, PhD
Konrad Sechley is a leading patent agent in the life sciences sector with over 20 years of experience in patent prosecution. Working out of Gowling WLG's Vancouver office, Konrad is known for his proactive approach and resourcefulness in pursuing success for his clients.
His practice focuses on patent protection in the biotechnological, agricultural, pharmaceutical, chemical, cleantech, biofuel and bioenergy sectors in Canada, the U.S. and abroad. He works with a full range of clients, including government, university and hospital research labs, and startup and mid-sized biotech, cleantech, pharmaceutical and multinational corporations. Konrad is a registered patent agent in Canada and the United States, and a qualified Canadian patent examiner.
Top-ranked by major legal directories such as LMG Life Sciences, IAM Patent 1000 and Who's Who Legal Patents, he speaks and publishes regularly on current patent issues in the life sciences.

Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Konrad worked as a post-doctoral research scientist in several university, government and industrial research labs in the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology.
Konrad is the former leader of the firm's Life Sciences Group, and is a former national leader of its Patent Prosecution Group. He also contributes to the advancement of the profession by being an active member of the Biotechnology Committee with the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) and the Biotechnology and Chemical Practice Committees with the American Intellectual Property Institute (AIPLA).
He is past chair of IPIC's Patent Agent Training Tutorials. Konrad is also a past IPIC council member.
