Lee Sykes

Lee Sykes is a summer law student in Gowling WLG’s Waterloo Region office.

Lee is currently a student of the Juris Doctor Program at Queen’s University Faculty of Law, anticipated to graduate in 2019. He is a graduate of the Queen’s Law International Business Law Program at the Bader International Study Centre in England where he received training from some of Europe’s top arbitration lawyers as well as key members, past and present, of the WTO appellate body.

At law school, Lee has maintained a broad interest in areas such as tax, securities and business associations, along with negotiations and advocacy work. He has also served as an associate editor for the Queen’s Law Journal, aiding in the management and publication of academic articles. On top of his studies and the Journal, Lee acted as the head of publicity for the Queen’s Law Cancer Society and the Nominations Committee head for the Law Student’s Society Awards Committee.

Prior to law school, Lee completed his bachelor’s degree (honours) at Queen’s University, specializing in Political Studies with a particular focus on international relations and global affairs.

In his spare time, Lee is an avid sports enthusiast, captaining intramural basketball and volleyball teams along with cheering on all Toronto sports franchises. He is also an active supporter and participant in the annual Queen’s Law Fall Classic golf tournament.
