Mark Giavedoni

Bio

Mark Giavedoni is a partner in Gowling WLG's Hamilton office and leader of the firm’s Real Estate Industry & Sector Group and the Real Estate Practice Group in Canada. He is also an active member of the firm's National Construction & Infrastructure Sector Group, Energy Group and Expropriation Group.

Mark prides himself on being a responsive and dedicated strategic advisor on all aspects of real property transactions, including acquisitions/dispositions, financing, leasing, project structure and development, asset/facilities management and operations. He is frequently consulted by municipalities, universities, school boards, utilities and other lawyers to advise on complex real estate matters. His creativity and experience enable him to guide and represent clients on:

Mark is the 2nd Vice-Chair of the Federation of Ontario Law Associations and is that organization’s Real Estate Committee Chair. He is a member of the Real Estate, Municipal and Education Sections of the Ontario Bar Association. He was past president of the Hamilton Law Association and currently serves as vice-chair to the Real Estate Sub-Committee. Additionally, Mark is a member of the Ontario Expropriation Association and the Canadian Property Tax Association. He is a frequent speaker and presenter on various substantive real estate topics throughout Ontario.

Mark's achievements include receiving the Federation of Ontario Law Associations President’s Award in 2021 and surviving raising two teenagers.

Representation of $28,000,000 initial investment in Ontario agricultural enterprise from extra-provincial partnership and placement of related security
$50,000,000 leasehold mortgage and related security over leasehold interests on brownfield site
Sale of 4 apartment building sites as portfolio disposition by family office to REIT
Sale of Hotel and related amenity spaces in Niagara Falls area
Advising on Financing and Operations of $100,000,000 long-term care and retirement home project
Project counsel to various student residence projects for universities
Project counsel on six-phase 4 tower condominium mixed-use project in Waterloo Region, including financing, partnership agreement, rental conversions and investment managemen
