Matthew Doak

Matthew Doak is a Toronto-based Gowling WLG associate in the advocacy department. He is involved primarily in complex litigation matters. He has developed broad experience in the following legal areas: contract and shareholder disputes, trans-border enforcement issues, defamation and employment matters, competition and securities litigation, environmental matters, and corporate risk and compliance.

In his practice, Matthew has appeared before various levels of court in Ontario, assisted clients with negotiations at mediations and settlement conferences, and represented clients in responding to regulatory investigations.

Matthew regularly participates as pro bono counsel at the Toronto Small Claims Court, representing clients who are unable to afford legal services. This is a continuation of Matthew’s commitment to access to justice that began while he was attending law school at Queen’s University. Throughout his time at law school, Matthew was involved as a caseworker with the Queen’s Legal Aid Clinic where he provided assistance to low-income clients.
