Michelle Axbey

Michelle Axbey is a law clerk in Gowling WLG's Toronto office and has worked exclusively in the area of environmental law since 2002. She has extensive experience and interest in matters where human health and the environment intersect.

Her litigation experience includes hearings involving renewable energy, noise, air quality, agriculture and environmental assessment. She provides litigation support to counsel for renewable energy approval appeals, including the first REA appeal involving a windfarm.

Throughout her career she has provided document management and client support for numerous municipalities, proponents and citizen groups. Recently she has provided research support for the development, passage and implementation of the first health protection and air quality by-law under the Ontario Municipal Act, 2001.

Michelle currently assists with document preparation and management for matters before the Ontario Courts and Environmental Review Tribunal. She provides research support and summaries for the Environment Group. She also liaises with counsel, technical teams, expert witnesses, as well as Ministry staff in her practice.
