
Bio
Nana Asante is a summer law student in Gowling WLG’s Calgary office. He is entering his third year of law school at the University of Calgary. He graduated with an honours bachelor of arts in English from Mount Royal University.
During his legal studies, Nana was the summer and academic term program coordinator for Pro Bono Students Canada Calgary Chapter during his second year. He led over 170 student volunteers and oversaw 18 projects. Additionally, he created five new projects aimed at improving access to justice by providing free legal documents or presentations to low-income communities. He will act as the academic term program coordinator during his final year.
In Nana’s first year of law school, he participated in the University of Calgary Faculty of Law’s McGillivray Moot Competition. In his second year, he participated in the 31st Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna, Austria.
Nana is interested in commercial and civil litigation. As a freelance writer, Nana has helped clients obtain grant funding and develop business plans. He is passionate about putting his written advocacy skills to work for clients.
In his spare time, Nana likes to run, hike, travel and try new foods.
