Experience

  • Successfully argued for and obtained the transfer of various infringing domains for a large UAE based company, a large Saudi Arabian company, a famous luxury goods brand as well as a large retailer of vehicles.
  • Successfully negotiated the transfer of IP rights, including copyright and trade marks, as well as the cease of operations of a business infringing the trade secrets of a client. This was achieved by negotiating the transfer of copyright from a designer, various online website and social media takedowns, as well as lodging high court proceedings concurrently when the client's business model and brand were highjacked.
  • Successfully lodged and worked alongside various officials in the Saudi Arabia and the UAE to address the sale of counterfeit goods.
  • Successfully negotiated that a large hotel ceases use of an international client's hotel brand after lodging infringement proceedings at high court level. This included defending cancellation actions and working closely with barristers and investigators.
  • Natalie was part of a team that successfully managed the IP portfolio of a large African FMCG company, including over 100 brands, some older than 100 years, all over Africa, South America, Europe, and the Middle East. This team successfully prosecuted litigious and contentious matters before courts in various countries, as well in advertising and consumer regulatory forums as well. This included, for example, advertising complaints in South Africa to oppositions in Colombia to infringements in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
  • Successfully assisted a large real estate company to protect many unprotected IP rights; managed and organized their portfolio of rights.
  • Successfully advised a large retail company on various product compliance issues, providing them with insight in order to successfully import and sell their goods on the market in South Africa.
