- Qualified, Rechtsanwaeltin (2019)
Rhiannon has over ten years' experience in advising on all aspects of competition law in the UK, Brussels and Germany.
A main part of Rhiannon's practice involves providing fast-paced advice to clients on the requirements for merger control and foreign direct investment (FDI) clearances, in particular in the UK and EU, for proposed transactions. She has been involved in advising on some of the largest global transactions in recent years and has a wealth of experience of coordinating complex global transactions with local counsel around the world.
She also has extensive experience of advising on complex cartel investigations and abuse of dominance cases. Rhiannon has recently advised a client on a standalone UK competition damages action related to an alleged abuse of dominance before the Competition Appeals Tribunal (CAT). She has also successfully advised a client on intervention applications to both EU Courts in Luxembourg.
Rhiannon regularly conducts compliance training for clients on a range of competition law topics, including dawn raid preparedness. She advises on competition law-related questions arising in clients' day-to-day business and is an expert on the law of distribution agreements.
While Rhiannon focuses in particular on advising clients in the energy and retail & leisure sectors, over the past decade, she has advised clients in a very broad range of sectors, including chemicals, digital, electronic products, financial services, healthcare, hotels and leisure, pharmaceuticals, semiconductor manufacturing and telecommunications.
After qualifying and practising for several years at a Magic Circle law firm in London and Brussels, Rhiannon spent over seven years practising at Germany's leading law firm, where she advised leading German and international clients on a wide range of complex competition law issues.
Rhiannon has native-level proficiency in both written and spoken German. She is dual-qualified in England & Wales and Germany. Her admission to the German bar means the advice she provides on EU legal issues continues to be covered by attorney-client privilege, post-Brexit. Rhiannon has full rights of audience before the EU Courts in Luxembourg.
Rhiannon is very approachable and dedicated to acting as a strategic partner for her clients when helping them find commercially-viable solutions to some of the most complex issues of competition law.
Outside of work, Rhiannon has a wide range of interests. She enjoys reading, particularly foreign language literature, and going to the theatre, opera and classical concerts. She is a keen cinema-goer, with a penchant for foreign language films. She plays the piano and sings soprano with the St Albans Cathedral Parish Singers. Rhiannon also enjoys cooking and gardening in her spare time.
