Richard D. Rabson

Richard Rabson is counsel in Gowling WLG's Vancouver office. Richard has concentrated his practice and gained extensive experience in the areas of corporate commercial and real estate law, including:

  • advising on and documenting special purpose corporate structures, corporate reorganizations, estate freezes and shareholders' agreements; incorporating and advising not-for-profit organizations; advising on corporate governance issues;
  • advising on, negotiating and documenting a wide variety of commercial agreements, joint ventures, limited partnerships and acquisitions of businesses and commercial real estate;
  • advising on, negotiating and documenting financing transactions from the perspectives of both borrowers and lenders, and leasing transactions from the perspectives of both landlords and tenants; and
  • acting for developers in all aspects of project development including construction contracts, development agreements and pre-sale documentation.

Over his years of practice, Richard has developed a number of international clients and has represented clients in complex international transactions involving multi- jurisdictional acquisitions and financings and negotiating agreements with various governments including with officials in Korea and Singapore.

When not practicing law, Richard actively participates in family activities and pursues his keen interest in world affairs, which includes being a long time subscriber to The Economist and undertaking extensive travel in Europe, Asia and Africa.
