Ronald E. Dimock

Ron Dimock is one of Canada's leading intellectual property litigators, mediators and arbitrators.

Distinguished by Chambers as the "guru of IP law in Canada," Ron has appeared as counsel in many of Canada's landmark patent, trademark and copyright cases over the course of his 40-year career - including more than 50 trials before the Federal Court and 30 appeals before the Supreme Court of Canada and other appellate courts. He also holds the distinction of having participated in more patent trials and appeals than any other lawyer in Canada.

In 1994, Ron co-founded Dimock Stratton LLP, which went on to become a major force in Canada's IP litigation landscape and was routinely ranked among the top IP boutiques in the country.

Over the course of his career, Ron has remained a sought-after speaker and prolific author on a range of topics with respect to IP and advocacy. He has also enjoyed an esteemed teaching career. For more than 20 years, he taught a masters-level IP course at York University's Osgoode Hall Law School, where he continues to give an annual lecture on patent law. He also previously taught courses at Queen's University and McGill University.

Ron complements his litigation practice by offering his services as an arbitrator and mediator of IP disputes, and as an expert witness on Canadian IP law and practice, through his own office under the name DIMOCK.
