Roopal Jobanputra

Roopal Jobanputra is a principal associate based in the Dubai office. Roopal has a dual role working with both the Corporate Commercial team and the Project Finance team and has been in the region for eight years.

Roopal advises on a range of corporate matters including mergers and acquisitions, private equity, joint ventures, restructurings, pre-IPO and IPOs. Her work involves working with international clients across the Middle East, Europe, Asia and Africa.

Highlights include:

  • Advising a sovereign wealth fund on a £30million investment into a UK company
  • Advising an online portal providing revolving credit facilities on a £4 million investment by a private family office.
  • Advising a family office on its $120 million sale of its stake in a telecoms company.
  • Advising on the joint venture relationship and USD 25 million loan financing arrangements in respect of the a hotel in Dubai as part of a restructuring of $100m equity investment. Roopal has been providing advice in relation to this investment as well as a number of restructurings and further investments for the same client over the last six years.
  • Advising on the joint venture structure in respect of a project company developing a 250 mw gas-fired combined power plant at Yerevan Armenia.
  • Advising a family office on its US$246 million partial exit from an African telecoms business and its subsequent restructuring;
  • Advising on the US$165 million restructuring and a UK listed company on its investment in a Dubai-based regional bank.

Roopal has advised procurers, developers and lenders on a range of project finance transactions in the GCC and Africa across a range of sectors including power (both conventional and renewable), water and infrastructure. She also advises on general finance and security matters across the region and internationally including providing advice in relation to transactions that involve Sharia'h compliant funding and has recently advised on the Sharia'h aspects of a £24 million development financing deal structured on a Murabaha basis.
