Ruba El-Sayegh

Ruba El-Sayegh is a senior associate lawyer in the advocacy department of Gowling WLG. Her practice focuses on commercial and civil litigation as well as regulatory/administrative law with an emphasis on health law, medical defence and professional liability.  

Ruba has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Divisional Court, the Ontario Court of Justice, and Small Claims Court, and she has also appeared as counsel at Coroner’s Inquests. She regularly appears before various health-related administrative tribunals including the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board, and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.  

Ruba also practices in embassy law where she serves as outside general counsel to foreign missions, ambassadors, and diplomats to Canada. In this role, she advises clients on Canadian laws and regulations, immigration, diplomatic and consular law, state immunity, and private international law.   

Ruba is fluent in English and Arabic, and conversant in French.
