Savannah Would

Savannah is an associate in Gowling WLG's EU, trade and competition team. She has assisted on a range of competition matters across the team's practice, advising upon key aspects of UK and EU competition law, including state aid, subsidy control, competition law compliance, merger control and competition litigation.

Savannah has also assisted clients with advice on areas of the team's international trade and customs practice, including responding to audits and investigations by UK customs authorities.

Savannah speaks French to an advanced level. Before qualifying into the team, Savannah trained and qualified at the firm, also spending time in the commercial real estate department and completing a client secondment.

Experience

International trade and customs

• Assisting a leading automotive manufacturer with its preparation for Brexit and the development of a preferential origin programme.
• Advising an international manufacturer of luxury apparel in relation to the seizure by a UK customs authority of a shipment of products into the UK.
• Advising a luxury jewellery firm in relation to a customs compliance check by a UK customs authority of certain import entries relating to the importation of antique goods into the UK.

Competition litigation

• Acting for Preventx Limited in securing an interim injunction in the High Court in the context of its competition law dispute with Royal Mail.

State aid

• Advising a government department upon State aid concerns arising in the context of a proposed grant to assist with the clinical response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
