Scott Beattie

Scott Beattie is a partner in Gowling WLG's Hamilton office, where he conducts a broad commercial litigation practice and acts as the leader of the office's Advocacy Department.

Scott routinely represents an array of private and institutional clients, including insurers and municipalities, with a particular focus on professional negligence and commercial disputes such as breaches of contract, shareholder disputes, and debtor/creditor actions. Scott is preferred counsel for LawPRO, for which he has acted in the defense of legal malpractice claims for the past 13 years.

Scott's clients benefit from his keen ability to quickly identify problems, and solve them with honest advice and actionable solutions. His results-oriented approach to resolving disputes is firmly rooted in prioritizing his clients' bottom line and providing value-added legal service.

If a particular matter is unable to be resolved outside of the courtroom, Scott applies his broad knowledge and in-depth experience across all levels of courts in Ontario, advocating strongly on his clients' behalf to achieve fair and favourable results.

Outside of the firm, Scott is a sought-after speaker who volunteers his time for the Hamilton Law Association and Ontario Bar Association, where he has served on various committees, held leadership roles, and actively participates in continuing legal education efforts.

In 2024, Scott was named a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only collegial network of lawyers who effectively represent clients across North America and around the world.
