Sean P. Jones

Sean Jones is an associate in Gowling WLG's Vancouver office, practising in the firm's Environmental and Indigenous Law groups.

One of the main focuses of Sean's practice is using his expertise to assist clients in obtaining and maintaining social license. He advises a wide range of Indigenous and industry clients on issues that include advocating for environmental concerns and the rights of Indigenous communities, and challenging approvals when necessary. Sean also advises his clients on projects and transactions in which the duty to consult is triggered.

Sean's Indigenous law experience includes consultation on major projects, commercial agreements between industry and Indigenous communities, real estate transactions and governance issues.

With extensive federal and provincial environmental assessment experience, Sean regularly advises industry and Indigenous communities on project approvals. Sean also regularly advises clients on contaminated sites and environmental compliance in the mining and oil and gas sectors. He has also helped his clients obtain and defend oil and gas approvals.

Prior to his career in law, Sean had a career in communications, working for both industry and government. He was also a faculty member in the Communications Department at Douglas College for 10 years, and taught communications courses at BCIT and other post-secondary institutions.
