Shahrzad Shab Afrouz

Shahrzad Shab Afrouz is an articling student in Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office.

Shahrzad completed her JD and LLL at the University of Ottawa in the Canadian Law Program, graduating cum laude. During her studies, Shahrzad worked as a research assistant in securities law (Faculty of Civil Law) and in whistleblower protection (Centre for Law, Technology and Society). She also represented the University of Ottawa at the Harold G. Fox Moot.

Prior to entering law school, Shahrzad completed a bachelor in business administration at HEC Montreal, where she spent a semester abroad at ESCP Europe Paris. She also obtained a degree in health science from Collège André-Grasset. Additionally, Shahrzad competed in the Canadian Chemistry Olympiad and conducted a neuropharmacology experimental project at the University of Montreal’s Faculty of Medicine.  

Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Shahrzad summered and articled at a boutique business law firm in Ottawa. She previously interned at VIA Rail and a civil litigation firm. Before law school, Shahrzad worked in regulatory risk management.
