Shawn Duguay

Shawn Duguay is an associate at Gowling WLG's Ottawa office.

Shawn completed his JD at Queen's University. During his time in law school, Shawn took part in Queen's Legal Aid's Clinical Litigation Practice, successfully representing clients before the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board and the Social Benefits Tribunal. While at Queen's, Shawn was president of the Human Rights Law Club where he co-ordinated speaking events and fundraisers with the goal of promoting human rights awareness within the Queen's community. He also attended the Bader International Study Centre in Herstmonceux, England, earning a certificate in international public law. In addition, Shawn completed a placement at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville, where he worked closely with the local Judiciary.

Shawn graduated from the University of Ottawa with a bachelor of arts (honours) degree in history and philosophy. Throughout his studies, Shawn volunteered as a researcher at the University of Ottawa's Museum of Classical Antiquities, and worked as an academic tutor in English, History and Philosophy. He also volunteered with a local charity, helping to refurbish and ship wheelchairs to places in need around the world.

Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Shawn worked for a sole practitioner in Belleville, helping to draft matters and conduct legal research.
