Soraya Salhi

Soraya is a UK qualified Solicitor in our TMT department. She has previously worked in international law firms in the UK and in France (where she is qualified as a Legal Counsel) as well as in-house in the Software industry, where she worked on various multi-jurisdictional issues, representing the interests of some of the top tech companies including Microsoft, Apple, Autodesk and Adobe.

Soraya's experience concentrates on all aspects of Commercial and Tech matters, including data protection and privacy law audits and policies, outsourcing agreements and various software and licensing agreements. Since joining Gowling WLG, Soraya has worked on various matters, such as:

  • Advising the largest e-commerce platform's legal and marketing teams in relation to the draft of the Statement of Work governing the handling of Amazon UAE's social media handles by a third party agency in Dubai.
  • Negotiating various non-disclosure agreements on behalf of an online payment gateway with existing and potential partners in the UAE.
  • Advising a Canadian health services provider on how to set up business in the Dubai.
  • Assisting the team's principal associate in negotiating a master service agreement on behalf of a telecommunication company based in Abu Dhabi.
  • Advising various clients on data protection and their obligations on how to process personal data within the UAE.
  • Successfully carried out a due diligence exercise on behalf of a business investing £42 Million in a defence technology business.
  • Drafting a Beta Test Agreement and Software Licence Agreement for a Cloud storage solution provider before the launch of its latest product on the European market.
  • Negotiating and drafting a Software Support Agreement on behalf of an independent research and consultancy company.
