
Bio
Syed Ullah is an articling student at Gowling WLG’s Ottawa office, focusing his work with the Business Law Group.
Syed earned his Juris Doctor degree from Robson Hall at the University of Manitoba. In his final year, he served as a clinician with the L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic and the Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Arts, advising startups and artists. Syed honed his skills in drafting retainers, non-engagement, and reporting letters, while also gaining valuable experience conducting client meetings, where he provided tailored legal advice and addressed client concerns directly.
While in law school, Syed served as the treasurer and co-chair for the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers, volunteered with various organizations including CanU Canada and Pro Bono Students Canada, and represented his school at The Harold G. Fox Canadian Intellectual Property Moot in 2023. Syed also worked as an in-house law student for Alberta’s leading energy and utilities provider, focusing on legal research and drafting memorandums across various legal areas.
Syed completed a degree in education at the University of Calgary, where he was actively involved in coaching junior high basketball.
Syed is an avid sports enthusiast with a passion for MMA, the NBA, and the NHL. As a dedicated Winnipeg Jets fan, he never misses an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team.
